Scholarships
To assist with tuition, books, and other needs, we have a number of scholarships available to both new and current students through the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation. You can also find outside scholarships on your own and apply them towards your Â鶹ÊÓƵ expenses.
Applying is easy! Our online application system allows you to be considered for close to 200 scholarships at once. Contact lbccscholarships@linnbenton.edu for more information.
Note: our scholarship system uses a pool match system and not all scholarships are
awarded each cycle.

Tips and Advice for Scholarship Applications
Our scholarships come from donors who have chosen to give to Â鶹ÊÓƵ to help students like you! Donors come from different backgrounds resulting in scholarships for various areas of study. Donors know the juggling act students at Â鶹ÊÓƵ have with school, work, and family. They give to help support students often seeking to help hard working students with a compelling story for financial need. Merit and top grades are not as important to many donors as making your education a top priority and reaching your goals of a degree.
Are you currently admitted or enrolled at Â鶹ÊÓƵ as a degree-seeking student? If yes, you can apply for scholarships!
Applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA, and some scholarships do require full-time enrollment (12 or more credits). Our scholarships are available for Degree Partnership Program students as long as they are enrolled for a minimum of six credits at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
International students and students without a FAFSA can apply; however, some specific scholarships do require a FAFSA.
Our scholarship system will only allow for you to create an application during an active scholarship cycle. We have two cycles each year: one in the spring and one in the fall.
The fall cycle opens on Welcome Day in September. The spring cycle opens during the third week of February.
When applying, answer all the questions and take time to prepare the parts with statements.
The application has a section to write a statement regarding your educational and career goals. This portion is very important as it gives insight to your life and what you would like to accomplish by gaining an education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Share what has motivated you to select your field or study and include what you hope to accomplish in the future. Don’t let this piece scare you! Take time to write it and share it with a friend or family for input. Be sure to use spell check!
The personal statement is followed by a question regarding your financial need. Share your financial situation and include any exceptional circumstance that you would like to have reviewers consider.
You must prepare and attached a work sheet with your budget. This does require Microsoft Excel. This is an important part of your overall application. Take the time to complete it and remember to upload it to your application.
Sending a Letter of Thanks
Students awarded a scholarship are asked to write a thank-you letter addressed to the scholarship donor (the name of the scholarship) and submit it to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation no later than three weeks into the term upon receiving an award.

What Is an Outside Scholarship?
An outside scholarship (sometimes called an external scholarship) is funding provided by organizations other than Â鶹ÊÓƵ or the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation.
These may come from:
- Local businesses
- Nonprofit organizations
- Community groups and clubs
- Employers
- State or national scholarship programs
Outside scholarships can be combined with your other financial aid and are a great way to help reduce your college costs.

For Students: Receiving an Outside Scholarship
- Where to Send Scholarships:
- Scholarships should be mailed to Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Business Office (not the Financial Aid Office)
- Checks must be payable to Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Â鶹ÊÓƵ)
- Checks made out to you (the student) may delay processing
- Information Scholarship Providers Should Include:
- Your full legal name (first, middle initial, last)
- Your Â鶹ÊÓƵ ID number (preferred) or date of birth and full mailing address
- The total award amount and how it should be distributed (per term or lump sum)
- Any enrollment restrictions (e.g. full-time only)
- Which term(s) the scholarship should apply to
- Contact name and phone number of the scholarship provider
- Processing and Disbursement:
- Campus Store Purchases: if you have eligible funding, you may charge books/supplies at the Campus Store until the second Monday of the term
- Disbursement: any remaining funds after tuition and books are paid will be released to you during the second week of the term, unless otherwise specified by the donor.
- Timing: scholarships should arrive at Â鶹ÊÓƵ three to four weeks before the start of classes to avoid registration delays
- Distribution:
- Scholarships with donor instructions will be applied according to those guidelines (within Â鶹ÊÓƵ processes)
- Scholarships without instructions will be distributed according to Â鶹ÊÓƵ policy

Thank you for supporting Â鶹ÊÓƵ students! To ensure your award is processed quickly and correctly, please follow these guidelines:
- Mailing & Payment Instructions:
- Make checks payable to: Â鶹ÊÓƵ

- Information to Include with Scholarship Awards:
- Student’s full legal name and Â鶹ÊÓƵ ID number (or date of birth and address)
- Total award amount and distribution instructions (per term or lump sum)
- Any enrollment restrictions (e.g. full-time, program-specific, etc.)
- Which term(s) the scholarship applies to
- Donor’s contact name, phone number, and/or email
- Processing and Distribution:
- Please send awards three to four weeks before the start of the term, when possible
- Funds are applied to tuition and fees first
- If funds remain after tuition and books, they will be released to the student unless otherwise specified
- Â鶹ÊÓƵ will follow donor instructions when provided; if none are included, funds will be applied according to Â鶹ÊÓƵ policy.
