We want our qualifications to be as accessible as possible. That's why we have developed a wide range of support from replacement certificates to applying for bursaries.

We also have handy online guides for you to use if you need to appeal against a result.

Applying for a bursary

We award approximately 100 bursaries every year for people who wish to study for a City & Guilds or ILM qualification in the United Kingdom, but lack the funds.


Are you applying to university this year and your exam results are not as expected?

If your exam results were not what you expected or you would like some guidance about what to do next, the Exam Results Helpline is here for you. With 40 of the best careers advisers at the end of the phone, no question is too small and you can get help and advice on anything; including retakes, resits, gap years, apprenticeships, further education, Clearing and funding.

Exam Results Helpline delivered by Skills Development Scotland 0808 100 8000. Lines open 7-15 August.

Exam Results Helpline delivered by the National Careers Service for the rest of the UK 0800 100 900. Lines open 16-30 August.

Replacement certificates

If you are requesting a replacement certificate, verification/confirmation or comparison, and you are not the learner, you will need to provide a consent letter signed by the learner stating that they are agree to the release of their qualification information, before your application will be processed.

How to amend details on a certificate

If your replacement certificate request is within one calendar month since the date your certificate was issued, please contact your centre and they will request the replacement and any requested amendments on your behalf.

How to appeal an exam result

It is our aim to treat each case fairly and consistently. However, if you disagree with a decision we have made regarding your examination result, you can appeal it.

Using the City & Guilds logo

The City & Guilds Qualified logo is available to learners who have achieved a Level 2 City & Guilds (including NPTC) qualification or higher. The logo includes a descriptor that shows the level of the qualification you have achieved.
